In going through the various pieces of documentation I have on my grandfather, I keep bumping into Things That Make Me Go Hmmm.
Here I am at the library, using their access to genealogy websites and how the information I’m finding is stirring up new questions and not necessarily answering the ones I already had. Side stories are suggesting themselves and it’s too easy to get pulled into trying to research those, too.
Here’s the Thought Bubble Progression, in case it’s easier to read in this manner:
“… So in 1900, James Alexander & Edith Jane were in Cleveland without Huard…”
“… the Ohio census says they’re only 5 years apart in age…”
“BUT That’s NOT TRUE!!!”
“It also says they’ve been married for a year, which means 1899, so Edith was 16 or 17 when they married!!”
“Was she the babysitter for Baby Huard? Is that how they met?”
“The 1901 Canada census shows Huard still in Ontario with his grandparents”
“In 1903 Huard’s grandma died!” (Poor little guy… awwww, Baby Grampa!)
“& His Grampa got married again within the year!”
“To whom?”
“… His dead wife’s YOUNGER SISTER!!!”
(Holy Crap! This is like a soap opera!)
Cool illustration and research, Megan! It looks great, and I love how you did the thought bubbles.
